Fakes on a plane?

One to watch out for in the media today:

People suggesting both (a) that the alleged plane bomb plot has been fabricated by the government, with full police collusion, to make us all scared and trust them, and (b) that the government has put us at real risk of terrorism through its foreign policy.

The ability to fabricate terrorist attacks this effectively assumes a level of competence on the government's part that I simply don't think exists.

Given that this has been a year-long operation I don't think John Reid's call for more power is entirely a coincidence though...

Mind you - I'm watching Brass Eye at the moment, which hasn't helped to honest.

Let's wait and see. If the government were lying and manipulating the public using a compliant media it would certainly not be the first time.

Of course our foreing poilicy has put us at greater risk. The Secret Intelligent Services told Blair that would be a direct result of his decision to to to war in Iraq. (one of the few things they got right and he chose to ignore them!)
