ONE! Ha ha ha… TWO! Ha ha ha…

“I love to count!”

Well, I know I said that I was happy not knowing how many visitors I get here, but curiosity has finally wrapped its felicidal fingers round the neck of my lofty disdain. So I’ve signed up to Site Meter and, since yesterday evening, I’ve had an encouraging 24 hits. Although a few of them were me. Had to check it worked, you see.

I'm not bothered about numbers much either. The most useful thing is to see who is refering visitors to you - and how often.

45 already.

Of course, all this proves is that readers of my blog have a higher level of online ability than yours and are therefore able to read mine through Google Reader, Bloglines and the like.

Yes, that must be it.

It is nice to have seen the number of visitors to the Poor Mouth grow. True, numbers do not a good blog make. Seeing where your visitors are coming from (nation and referer)and what they are reading makes s sitemeter worthwhile

It is good to be able to see where people are coming from. I recently got a link from a Millwall fan forum - not saying anything too nasty - which spiked traffic and which allowed me to update the post to take account of what they were saying about the club's attempt to increase their fan base.

Wouldn't have seen that without the stat stuff that comes with Wordpress; and Technorati wouldn't have shown that sort of link.

I like to think that the people who do come here are so impressed that they print off hundreds of copies of my posts and then stand on street corners, dressed in purple, handing them out to people.

It's all part of my cunning plan to (a) destroy the environment and (b) annoy commuters.

(Oooh! Someone from the Czech Republic's visited! And Oz, and Canada... does this mean I can cross these off my list of countries I've never been to? Oh, the excitement. This is almost as good as Lego)

Nothing's as good as Lego.

I see you've had someone from the BBC check out your site. A media career is only a step away.
