‘Lorry carrying 12m bees overturns’

WTF??

There is much that goes on in this world of which I am usually happily unaware. The fact that bees are transported by lorry, millions at a time, is in this category.

Maybe this explains why the bees are disappearing - they're being shipped to a secret location in lorries. For what purpose, we can only speculate.

Have you never seen the X-Files? They're being used to carry an alien-human virus. We're doomed, I tell ya, doomed.

It's because, since wild honeybees have pretty much disappeared from North America since the mid 90s (and for known reasons), farmers hire bees to come and help pollinate their crops.

Chris, you mean even bees are subcontracted out these days? Truly, this must be the highest stage of capitalism.

My understanding is that these are mostly east European and Vietnamese workers bees, which will work far longer hours than decadent consumerist welfare-bloated Western bees, and for a fraction of the wage.

(You guys have no idea how many internal organs I've ruptured this afternoon trying to resist all the obvious puns...)
